Moldova tour, 2010



Following a traffic blunder that I made in April 2010 (I drove at 103 km/h in an urban area), as a result of which my license was suspended for 3 months, I decided, just before the expiry of the proof that my license had been retained, to embark on a tour: Bicaz Gorge, Piatra Neamt, Voronet, Tihuta, Teaca /Bistrita, Cluj.

Dupa o gafa in trafic in Aprilie 2010 (103 km/h prin localitate), gafa in urma careia am ramas fara permis 3 luni, am decis chiar inainte de expirarea dovezii de retinere a permisului sa fac o tura : cheile Bicazului, Piatra Neamt, Voronet, Tihuta, Teaca /Bistrita, Cluj

I set out, confident that I would not blunder again, the only risk involved being that the suspension period for my license could be extended.

Am plecat increzator la drum ca nu o sa mai fac nici o gafa, riscul fiind sa mi se prelungeasca perioada de suspendare a permisului.

My first stop was at Gheorgheni, where I tanked up and had something to eat, trying to be as ready as possible for the beautiful route that lay ahead: Bicaz Gorge.

Prima oprire am facut-o la Gheorgheni, unde am alimentat si am mancat ceva, incercand sa fiu cat mai pregatit pentru traseul frumos ce urma: Cheile Bicazului


I had a stopover at Bicaz Gorge, admired the scenery, and bought some souvenirs for my daughter Sara.
Am facut un popas in cheile Bicazului, am admirat privelistea si am cumparat ceva suvenir-uri pentru Sara, fetita mea.

I slept in Piatra Neamt at my in-laws, where I introduced my nephew Matei to motorcycling ;))))
Am dormit in Piatra Neamt la socri, unde l-am initiat pe nepotul Matei in motociclism ;))))


The next morning I left for Campulung Moldovenesc, on a beautifully asphalted route.
Dimineata am plecat spre Campulung Moldovenesc, pe un traseu cu asfalt exceptional.

I visited Voronet monastery.
Am vizitat manastirea Voronet.






I continued my journey towards Bistrita, delighted with the freshly repaired road, resembling a circuit.
Tihuta Pass was spectacular, but the weather was very cold. Snow still lingered on the mountain peaks. 
A torrential rain hounded me along the entire length of the way, but eventually I managed to shake it off, and had a stopover at Dracula’s, where, to be honest, I was so tired that I dozed off for about an hour on a bench in front of the hotel.

Mi-am continuat drumul spre Bistrita, fiind incantat de drumul proaspat renovat ca un circuit.
Pasul Tihuta a fost spectaculos, dar vremea foarte rece. Inca mai era zapada pe varfurile muntilor.
Tot drumul m-a urmarit o ploaie torentiala, dar pana la urma am scapat de ea si am facut un popas la Dracula, unde sincer nu am mai putut de oboseala si am dormit circa o ora pe o banca, in fata hotelului.



After I had some rest, I called my parents (in Teaca, Bistrita) and told them that I’d stop by (60 km), and asked them to prepare a good meal (as they say: the food cooked by one’s mother always tastes best, and this is especially true if you’ve grown terribly tired).

Dupa ce m-am odihnit putin, i-am sunat pe parinti (la Teaca/ Bistrita) si le-am spus ca trec pe acasa (60 km), sa pregateasca ceva bun de mancare (vorba aia: ca la mama acasa nu-i nicaieri ..., mai ales dupa o oboseala maxima acumulata)

In the evening, at long last, I arrived in Cluj, tired, but with a smile on my face, satisfied that I had arrived home safely, that nothing had happened to my bike, and, most importantly, that the trip had been blunder-free ;)))

Seara, intr-un tarziu am ajuns la Cluj, obosit , dar cu gura pana la urechi, plin de satisfactia ca am ajuns cu bine acasa fara sa se intample nimic la motocicleta si cel mai impotant, fara nici o gafa in trafic ;)))
